Tauernpass Road (B99)

The primary access road to Obertauern, the B99 over the Tauern Pass, is itself a significant feature. It winds its way up to the high-altitude resort, offering spectacular views. In winter, the road is meticulously cleared and maintained, though winter tires and sometimes snow chains are mandatory. It defines the linear layout of Obertauern, with accommodations and facilities spread along its length. In summer, it’s a scenic route for motorcyclists, cyclists, and car tours, connecting the Enns Valley with Lungau. It's an essential piece of infrastructure that shapes the unique character and accessibility of the resort.
