High-Altitude Hiking Trail: Gemsweg

The Gemsweg ('Chamois Path') is a spectacular high-altitude hiking trail offering breathtaking views of the Saas Valley and its surrounding peaks, providing a less strenuous alternative to some of the extreme mountaineering routes. While specific lifts are used to access the start, the trail itself is a designated scenic route. It winds along mountain flanks, through alpine meadows, and occasionally past small streams, often providing opportunities to spot local wildlife like chamois. Rated as a moderate hike, it requires good physical condition and suitable footwear. The trail is best enjoyed from late spring to early autumn.
