Assietta Ridge Road (Strada dell'Assietta)
The legendary Assietta Ridge Road is a high-altitude unpaved road traversing the ridge between the Susa and Chisone valleys, a mecca for mountain bikers and off-road enthusiasts. Primarily open in summer (usually July-September), it offers stunning panoramic views and passes several historical forts and battle sites. The route is approximately 30-60 km depending on starting points, with challenging climbs and descents. It is also popular for hiking and trail running. Its historical significance, combined with the rugged beauty of the high alpine environment, makes it a unique experience. Vehicle access is typically restricted to certain days or permits may be required.
