Julier Pass Road

The Julier Pass (Pass dal Güglia in Romansh) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps, connecting the Engadine valley with the rest of Graubünden. As a major access route to Silvaplana, it offers a scenic drive, traversing ancient Roman routes. The pass itself reaches an elevation of 2,284 meters. It is generally open year-round, though winter conditions (heavy snowfall) can necessitate temporary closures or require snow chains. The drive features dramatic landscapes, including the distinctive pyramidal Piz Julier and two small lakes on the pass. It's a vital connection and a tourist attraction in itself for road trip enthusiasts.
