Pfitscherjoch High Alpine Trail

The Pfitscherjoch (Passo di Vizze) is a historic mountain pass connecting the Pfitsch Valley in South Tyrol with the Zillertal in Austria. The high-alpine trail leading up to the pass (2,246 m) offers a challenging but incredibly rewarding hiking experience, typically undertaken as a day hike or part of a multi-day trek. Hikers are treated to rugged mountain landscapes, pristine alpine lakes, and panoramic views. While demanding, it's a true high-alpine adventure, requiring good physical condition and appropriate gear. It's usually accessible from late spring to early autumn, dependent on snow conditions. A mountain hut, the Pfitscherjochhaus, offers refreshments and accommodation near the pass.
